Coles is starting to offer a larger range of gluten free options both in their own label and name branded lines.

Coles advertises their range as

Coles Simply Gluten Free is a new and delicious range for people who follow a gluten free lifestyle. There are more than 40 new products in the range, so it’s easy to find everything you’ll need in one place. Tasty, convenient and great value – with Coles Simply Gluten Free you can feel free to enjoy the food you love. Find the range in the health food aisle and the freezer section of your local Coles. Coles Simply Gluten Free. Simply Delicious.”

Today I was lucky enough to try thier self branded Golden Cheese Rings.

They’re a frozen line which are located in their freezer section and at time of purchase where $6 with 10 rings in the packet making them only 60 cents each.

They recommend that you bake them on a baking tray at 190 degrees Celsius for 12 minutes, so they make a great quick snack or an easy meal for the drop in guest.

So let’s get straight to what you’re after, how do they taste?  To be honest not bad at all, the crumb does not show signs of blandness and tastes, well better than expected.   A little more time in the oven (or maybe even deep fried) will crisp them up to a beautiful crunch.  The cheese inside is similar to a cheese stick with a mild mozzarella kind of taste to it.

The good thing is, if you didn’t know they where gluten free you would never guess, so serving them to the whole family will not be a problem.

Would the Gluten Free Mumma buy again, yes I definitely would.
