One of my favourite things to do before diagnoses was feasting on buffet of sushi and gyoza at any sushi train I could lay eyes on. Gyoza and dumplings were such a comfort food so once diagnosed with coeliac disease, I obviously couldn’t indulge……..until I found these beauty’s.
Mr Chen’s gluten free pork dumplings
I steam these little gems in my Tupperware steamer (best thing ever BTW) for 8 minutes and oh my they are good!! Served with a generous glug of gf soy sauce they disappear within seconds.
The pastry stays together quite nicely and there’s a good portion of pork mince and other flavours.
I found these amongst the other Mr Chen’s (not gf) products in the freezer section at Woolies. You will get 15 pieces for about $8.00 which is quite reasonable.
Their made in Australia using at least 80% australian ingredients. Nutritionally they are not too bad with only 0.9g saturated fat per serve. Other allergens include sesame and may contain egg and milk.
There is a may contain statement on the packaging which eludes to the product being non coeliac friendly, however, the company has been contacted and they assure that before processing their gluten free products their equipment is thoroughly cleaned and sterilised. They do a swab test before production to ensure that all traces of gluten have been removed.
Also available from Mr Chen’s is their gluten free prawn hargow which I am yet to try.
Would the gluten free mumma recommend? It’s a yes from me!
