REVIEW – TOSTITOS TORTILLA CHIPS
I was flicking through the latest Woolworths catalogue and saw these NEW “authentic Mexican style tortilla chips”. I love myself a good corn chip so I thought I would check them out to see if they are gluten free by ingredient. There are three flavours – lightly salted, a splash of lime and smoked chipotle. Unfortunately only the lightly salted flavour is gluten free by ingredient, which is disappointing.
Alas, the lightly salted flavour just tasted like a corn chip. There was nothing special or different about them at all. The only point of difference is that they are a rectangular chip opposed to triangular. I guess if you prefer a certain shape of chip over another, then these might be for you.
The price per 175g pack is $4.00 which I feel is a bit expensive for a packet of plain corn chips.
I probably wouldn’t purchase these again unless the ingredients in the other flavours change and contain no gluten. For now though, it’s a no from me. I much prefer my home made corn chips. Serve them up with my home made guacamole dip and you will win every time.
